A WEIGHTED LINEAR REGRESSION MODEL FOR IMPERCISE RESPONSE
A weighted linear regression model with impercise response and p-real explanatory variables is analyzed. The LR fuzzy random variable is introduced and a metric is suggested for coping with this kind of variables. A least square solution for estimating the parameters of the model is derived. The result are illustrated by the means of some case studies.
متن کاملA Covariance Regression Model
Classical regression analysis relates the expectation of a response variable to a linear combination of explanatory variables. In this article, we propose a covariance regression model that parameterizes the covariance matrix of a multivariate response vector as a parsimonious quadratic function of explanatory variables. The approach can be seen as analogous to the mean regression model, and ha...
متن کاملSparse Multivariate Regression With Covariance Estimation.
We propose a procedure for constructing a sparse estimator of a multivariate regression coefficient matrix that accounts for correlation of the response variables. This method, which we call multivariate regression with covariance estimation (MRCE), involves penalized likelihood with simultaneous estimation of the regression coefficients and the covariance structure. An efficient optimization a...
متن کاملEstimation of Covariance Matrix
Estimation of population covariance matrices from samples of multivariate data is important. (1) Estimation of principle components and eigenvalues. (2) Construction of linear discriminant functions. (3) Establishing independence and conditional independence. (4) Setting confidence intervals on linear functions. Suppose we observed p dimensional multivariate samples X1, X2, · · · , Xn i.i.d. wi...
متن کاملBayesian Hierarchical Model for Large-Scale Covariance Matrix Estimation
Many bioinformatics problems implicitly depend on estimating large-scale covariance matrix. The traditional approaches tend to give rise to high variance and low accuracy due to "overfitting." We cast the large-scale covariance matrix estimation problem into the Bayesian hierarchical model framework, and introduce dependency between covariance parameters. We demonstrate the advantages of our ap...
